Upon completing our accredited program and passing the final exam, you’ll be able to apply for your license through the state of Florida. This will allow you to serve clients in a variety of settings such as hair salons, nail salons, spas, and resorts. Nail technicians can also be self-employed. The number of nail salons in the United States is rising, which means more job opportunities for students with the right training. Manicurists and pedicurists held approximately 113,600 jobs in 2014, of which 68% was in the personal care services industry. *

Successful nail technicians have outstanding people skills, artistic ability, high creativity, and attention to detail. If these traits describe you, then you’re in the right place. Nail technicians perform various tasks throughout a typical day, which may include:

At Florida Academy’s nail technology program, students will learn the necessary foundational knowledge to become a nail technician. You will also learn how to successfully communicate with clients, market your business, and grow and maintain a clientele base. Proper safety and sanitation techniques are continually practiced throughout the program.

Florida Academy’s nail technology program consists of 240 hours of training. Students begin by learning structures and disorders of the skin and nails. Program curriculum includes the demonstration of various techniques and artwork followed by supervised practice. This course establishes a foundation for further study and provides a common orientation and language for all students. Emphasis is placed on sanitation, sterilization, ergonomics, and communication with every client to ensure customer satisfaction. As the course progresses, students will be encouraged to use their own creativity and ideas to create nail masterpieces.
